The Color Fred - Aj Perdomo - Wild Truth - The David Earl Experience
On August 19th, I Had the pleasure of going to a house show at the Kill Shed. this night featured Fred Mascherino of The Color Fred, AJ Perdomo of The Dangerous Summer, Wild Truth, and The David Earl Experience.
The Kill Shed is located in Toms River, New Jersey. it features a spacious yard, a porch-turned-stage, and a bar area in the garAGE. UPON ARRIVING I WAS GREETED BY BRIAN Schantz, who runs the kill shed with his wife, Melanie. they have been putting on shows here since the summer of 2021, featuring acts like the Color Fred, Dentist, Halogens, The Dangerous Summer and more. There were plenty of beers to go around. icarus brewing made an appearance and brought some beers with them. a food truck, scrambl'd yegs, was also on site. they have been there for every show this summer. to put it shortly, The kill Shed is an Awesome place with a killer vibe.
starting off the evening was The David Earl Experience. if you're a musician in or around south jersey, you know David earl. he is seemingly everywhere. he started off the night with a few original tunes, including his newest song, 'What you Wanted." David also played a couple of covers including "ocean Avenue" by Yellowcard. You can listen to The David Earl Experience on all streaming services. be sure to follow him on Facebook and Instagram for future songs and shows.
Following David Earl was Wild Truth, a band from Richmond, Virginia. Making the Trip from Virginia to South Jersey in The summer is a massive undertaking. just getting from one side to the other in Jersey is rough in itself, but they did it. From their First song to their last they had me hooked with their Excellent guitar playing and tight rhythm section. they played their newest sINGLE "24" along with a song that isn't even out yet. they definitely made A NEW FAN OUT OF ME. YOU CAN STREAM THEIR MUSIC EVERYWHERE AND CHECK OUT SOME MERCH HERE.
Next on after a short break was AJ Perdomo of the Bands The Dangerous Summer and Broken Glowsticks. This was his third time at the Kill Shed. Every song he played seemed to fit as the sun was setting and turning to night. The Crowd was truly engaged with his set, singing along and feeling the songs. at one point he brought the show's host Brian on stage for a song and they recounted stories from the first shows at the venue. The Dangerous Summer is on Tour this fall with Emorosa. Check out The Dangerous Summer's website for tour info and merch here.
Closing out The Night was Fred Mascherino of The Color Fred. This Was Fred's Third time at The Kill shed. Fred Played Many songs from his former bands, including: The Color Fred, Terrible Things, Breaking Pangea, And taking Back Sunday. Fred Brought AJ back on stage to join him in performing "A Decade under the Influence." the later Part of his set included song requests. neighborhood Fireworks rang out over our heads during his last song as the crowd sang along. it was a fitting end to one awesome night of music. You can Catch The Color Fred on a 40 day tour this fall starting at milkboy in Philadelphia on September 2nd. Check out his site here for tickets and merch.
