On 6-19, Jimmy Eat World celebrated the 25th anniversary of Bleed American alongside special guests Thrice and Hey Mercedes with a sold out show at The Skyline Stage at The Mann Center.
Opening the night was Hey Mercedes, who got the crowd warmed up early with a set full of energy and nostalgia. Their performance was the perfect way to kick off a night celebrating some of the most influential bands of the era. Fans packed in early and gave the band a warm welcome, setting the tone for what would be an unforgettable evening.
Next up was Thrice. They launched into "Hurricane" from To Be Everywhere Is To Be Nowhere and immediately had the crowd locked in. They sounded incredible throughout their set and the audience responded with nonstop cheers and singalongs. Their setlist pulled from across their career, featuring newer songs like "Holding On," "Albatross," and "Vesper Light" from Horizons/West while also delivering fan favorites such as "Red Sky" and "The Artist in the Ambulance." The band was tight from start to finish, and their mix of heavy moments and atmospheric passages made for one of the standout performances of the night.
Jimmy Eat World closed out the evening with a celebration of Bleed American and a career full of beloved songs. The moment they stepped on stage the crowd erupted. They opened with four songs from Clarity before launching into a full album performance of Bleed American. Every lyric was sung back to the band as fans relived one of the defining albums of the early 2000s. From "A Praise Chorus" to "The Middle," the audience never stopped singing, turning the venue into one massive choir.
The atmosphere throughout the set felt special. Fans who had grown up with the album stood alongside younger listeners experiencing many of these songs live for the first time live. As the band worked their way through Bleed American, the energy remained high while the emotional moments hit just as hard.
After the last note rang out, the band gathered at the front of the stage and took a bow to well deserved cheers from the sold out crowd. They returned for a five song encore that featured more fan favorites before ending the night with "23." As the final song echoed across the venue, fans sang along one last time, bringing a fitting close to a night that celebrated not only an iconic album, but the lasting impact Jimmy Eat World has had over the last twenty five years.
The Bleed American 25th anniversary celebration continues throughout the year with different special guests joining Jimmy Eat World at various stops across the country. The tour makes another stop in the New Jersey area on June 25 at The Stone Pony Summer Stage, giving local fans another chance to be part of the celebration.
