The Stone Pony Summer Stage
5-29-26
On May 29, Dance Gavin Dance brought their current tour to a packed Stone Pony Summer Stage in Asbury Park, joined by The Fall of Troy, Wolf & Bear, and Novelists for a night that covered everything from progressive metalcore to post-hardcore.
Opening the night was Novelists, who wasted no time getting the crowd moving with a high energy set. Their blend of heavy riffs, atmospheric melodies, and powerful vocals made for a strong start to the evening.
Next up was Wolf & Bear, bringing their signature mix of technical musicianship and groove-driven post-hardcore. Their set was met with an enthusiastic response from the crowd, many of whom sang along and packed the pit throughout their performance.
The Fall of Troy followed and delivered exactly what longtime fans have come to expect. Their chaotic energy, intricate guitar work, and relentless stage presence turned the Summer Stage into a frenzy as they ripped through a set that reminded everyone why they remain such an influential band in the genre.
Closing out the night was Dance Gavin Dance. The crowd erupted as the band took the stage and launched into “Animal Surgery” from their newest studio album Pantheon. Crowd surfers started appearing almost immediately and rarely stopped for the remainder of the set. Fans sang along to every word while the pit stayed active throughout the night. Their set featured a healthy mix of songs from Pantheon alongside fan favorites pulled from across their catalog, giving both longtime listeners and newer fans plenty to enjoy. The band sounded locked in from start to finish, with every song being met with the same level of excitement from the crowd. They closed the night with “Inspire the Liars,” joined by Camille Contreras of Novelists, bringing an already memorable evening to a fitting conclusion.
The tour continues through mid-June, and with a lineup this strong from top to bottom, it is one that fans of the genre should make every effort to catch.
