Franklin Music Hall // 7-10
On 7-10, American Football packed out Franklin Music Hall in Philadelphia with Ian Sweet opening the night.
Ian Sweet got the night started with an energetic set that had people dancing and vibing from the first song. Their indie rock sound was the perfect way to kick things off. With their new album Shiverstruck coming out on July 24, they gave the crowd a preview of what's to come. Based on what I heard Friday night, it's definitely an album I'll be checking out.
American Football took the stage to a packed room and played a set that mixed songs from their new album, LP4, released in May, with plenty of older favorites. Their layered guitars and laid back style had the crowd locked in from beginning to end. It wasn't the kind of show where everyone was jumping around. Instead, people stood there taking it all in, singing along and appreciating every song.
They wrapped up the main set with "Never Meant," and just about everyone in the room sang along. After a short break, the band came back out for an encore, ending the night on a high note.
The tour continues with Ian Sweet through July 16th before American Football heads to Asia. They'll return August 7th with support from Afternoon Bike Ride through August 16th. If you get the chance to catch this tour, don't pass it up.
