Flogging Molly descended upon Atlantic City on the Road to Rebellion Tour with Amigo the Devil and Gen and the Degenerates on February 18th at The Hard Rock Hotel. The show was held in the Sound Waves theater, which is always a nice room to be in with the back of the room in tiered levels so you can see the show wherever you are.
Opening the night was Gen and the Degenerates, alternative punk from the UK. They were there to warm up the crowd and did they ever. They played a thirty-minute set, showcasing not only their energetic stage presence but also a mix of older hits and tracks from their upcoming album ‘Anti-Fun Propaganda’ set to release this Friday. While this was my first time hearing them, they definitely piqued my interest, leaving me eagerly anticipating the release of their new album.
Amigo the Devil took the stage next, kicking off their set with the haunting “A Drop for Every Hour” from their album ‘Born Against’. Danny Kiranos's masterful storytelling drew the audience into each song, with every macabre detail adding layers of depth. They treated the crowd to a preview of their upcoming album ‘Yours Until The War Is Over’ with tracks like “It’s All Gone”, “Once Upon a Time at Texaco Pt. 1”, and “Cannibal Within”, igniting excitement for its release on February 23rd. As their set reached its climax with the crowd favorite “Murder at the Bingo Hall” from ‘Born Against’, Amigo the Devil left the audience eagerly anticipating their future performances, including a solo tour in Australia and their return for the Frank Turner and The Sleeping Souls Undefeated tour.
Flogging Molly took the stage with explosive energy, launching into the anthemic “Drunken Lullabies” after a short serenade from Dave King. Their magnetic stage presence and infectious enthusiasm had the crowd singing along and dancing throughout their set. From classics like “Swagger” and “Devil's Dance Floor” to more recent hits like “Life in a Tenement Square” and “World Alive”, Flogging Molly delivered a performance that spanned their extensive catalog, captivating both longtime fans and newcomers alike. As someone who has been enjoying Flogging Molly for 22 of their 29-year career, the opportunity to photograph them was a dream come true. The Road To Rebellion Tour, with its lineup of three exceptional bands, is not to be missed. Continuing through March and culminating in the Shamrock Rebellion event in Las Vegas, this tour promises unforgettable performances and memories for all who attend.
