The Fillmore // 1-31-26

On January 31st, Say Anything and Motion City Soundtrack, along with Sincere Engineer, played a sold-out show at the Fillmore in Philadelphia. This was the second leg of the tour, which took a short break in December after the first leg featured Oso Oso.
Opening the night was Sincere Engineer, a band I’ve been trying to catch for a while now, and they absolutely delivered. They kicked off their set with songs like “Anemia” and “California King,” setting the tone early. The band played a tight, 30-minute set, and I can’t wait to see them again.
Next up on this co-headlining night was Motion City Soundtrack. They played several songs from their excellent new album, The Same Old Wasted Wonderful World, including “Some Wear a Dark Heart,” “She Is Afraid,” “Particle Physics,” and the title track. The set also included plenty of longtime favorites like “Capital H,” “Everything Is Alright,” and “The Future Is Freaking Me Out,” making for a well balanced, hour long set.
Closing out the night was Say Anything, who opened their set with “Spores” before launching into a run of fan favorites including “Belt,” “Shiksa (Girlfriend),” “Woe,” “So Good,” and “Eloise.” From start to finish, the band sounded tight and confident, feeding off the crowd’s energy as the room stayed loud and engaged the entire set. At one point, Fred Mascherino handed off a song to Matt Fleischman of Tokyo Rose, who occasionally fills in with Say Anything. The set felt like a great showcase of the band’s catalog, balancing high-energy moments with more melodic ones, and served as a strong close to an already solid night.
The tour continues into February, and if it’s coming through your area, it’s definitely a show worth checking out. They also have a New Jersey stop at Starland Ballroom on February 6th.
