Wave Break - Ignite//Decay
Wave Break, Alternative/pop-punk from Red Bank, NJ, has just unleashed their EP Ignite//Decay on August 30th. The Band features Kelly Barber on vocals and guitar, Tom Lakiszak on bass, Victoria Seagriff on drums, and the latest addition, Will McCorry, on guitar. The EP, which comprises 5 tracks totaling 16 minutes and 16 seconds, was recorded and produced by Ryan Weil at Weilhouse Productions. It was then mixed and mastered by the talented duo Zack Odom and Kenneth Mount at ZK Productions, with eye-catching album art designed by Kelly Barber and Izabella Neves.
The EP opens with “Call Me, Cynical,” a track that bursts with vibrant energy and immediately sets the tone for the rest of the release. Having seen Wave Break live earlier this year, I can confirm that this song captures their dynamic stage presence and infectious charisma. Its memorable hook is crafted to stick with you long after the song ends, making it a standout introduction to the EP.
Following this, “Embers” takes over with its irresistible riffs and catchy chorus. The line “Gotta keep these embers burning bright” is a testament to the band’s ability to create anthems that are both powerful and sing-along friendly. This track exemplifies Wave Break’s talent for blending catchy melodies with compelling instrumentation, ensuring it remains lodged in your memory.
The EP culminates with “Wither Away,” which emerges as a powerful and emotionally resonant conclusion. Its driving bass line, intricate guitar riffs, and Kelly Barber’s commanding vocals elevate this track to anthemic proportions. The song’s lyrical depth and the intensity of the performance make it an impactful finale, leaving a lasting impression.
While the EP’s brief runtime may leave listeners craving more, this is ultimately a compliment to the quality of the music. The tracks are engaging and well-crafted, creating a compelling case for the band’s future work. Fans should be excited to catch Wave Break live, as they are set to embark on a short Northeast tour. They’ll return to NJ for an album release show at Bond Street Bar in Asbury Park on September 22nd. This show is sure to be an energetic celebration of their latest EP and a must-see event for fans.
