No Trees touch the sky

1. Hello, thanks for taking the time to talk with me, how are you today?
- Doing well, thanks! Yourself?
I am very well
2. How did your band come to be?
- We formed from the end of another project that 4 out of the 5 of us had been in. We had a shift in vocalists and the musical direction had changed as well. We searched for a permanent bassist and, after asking our friend (Justin) to join, we solidified our line up sometime in September, 2023.

3. How did you come up with your band name?
- We came up with the name, No Trees Touch the Sky because we wanted something that fit the general idea of the genre that was influencing our sound and also had meaning. No Trees Touch the Sky came to mind and we all liked the way it sounded. Also, NTTS for short was pretty cool and easy to remember. That's it...or, we found it in a fortune cookie one day when we order Chinese takeout.

4. Who or what inspires you and your band? Musically and in general.
- Each of us is inspired by both similar and different artists. The most common theme between us though is that we all like the late 90's through mid 2010's post-hardcore sound. That span of time has become the foundation for which our sound is based, with an injection of ambience. We take our love for post-rock, alternative, and various subgenres of indie music and shape the songs from there. Our goal is to mix these (and other) various genres in a way that is genuine and flows naturally. While we hope to mesh these genres in a way that is accessible and more easily digestible to people who wouldn't normally listen to post-hardcore, we also don't lock ourselves into any singular artistic process.

5. Currently you have a couple of singles out, are you planning an album, more singles, a ep?
- At this point, we've only dropped singles. That doesn't mean that an album, EP, or LP is out of the question, but with the way social media has gone and the way music is consumed now, it seems more beneficial to put out singles. For now, we're going to keep releasing 1 or 2 singles at a time.

6. When writing is it a group effort, like it all written together or is it broken up, like band comes up with music and lyrics are separate?
- Typically, we start with an idea, a riff or a vocal melody, and then each develop our respective parts. From there we give each other input and ideas (if needed) and compose the song. We feel like this approach works best for us because we end up with songs that feel like all of us instead of just one member. Ultimately, we focus on staying true to ourselves and that helps us stay true to our sound.

7. What is next for your band?
- Next up, we have a new single, "Sunrise", releasing on 4/19. After that, we are doing a live audio/video recording on 4/29 with CART music sessions based out of Philly and are locking down a killer show for early June. In between, after, and always, we're continuing to write new songs, book/play shows, and grow as a band.

8. Where can readers find your music?
- We're on majority of the socials. Readers can check us out on Instagram and browse through our linktree, but we're on IG, Facebook, YouTube, Bandcamp, Soundcloud, TikTok, Threads, etc.
